Understand your report

Review your first report item

Check one account against your records before deciding whether anything needs a dispute.

Start with the written walkthrough

The video is not available yet. Every step is written below.

  1. Open an account and check the creditor, balance, payment history, and reporting bureau.
  2. Compare the details with your own records. A flag is a reason to look closer, not proof of an error. An account at several bureaus is not automatically a duplicate.
  3. If something is wrong or incomplete, write down exactly what you disagree with and gather supporting records. Accurate information does not need a dispute.

What progress looks like: You can explain a specific disagreement using your own facts, or decide that no action is needed.

Your report is a place to start checking, not a list of things that must be disputed.

Open one account and read the details. Check the creditor, balance, payment history, and which credit bureau reported it.

Compare those details with your own records.

A flag means something may need a closer look. It is not proof of an error. The same account appearing at different bureaus is not automatically a duplicate.

If the information is accurate, you do not need to dispute it.

If something is wrong or incomplete, make a note of exactly what you disagree with and gather any supporting records.

That clear explanation is what you will use to prepare your letter.
